HEALTHY SAMOSAS

It’s the choices we make in life defines how we lived it. The same also goes for the food we eat. Quarantine has led to complete disruption of daily routine due to which many people have started following unhealthy eating habits. This is majorly because we spend maximum of our time at home. Being at home the whole day makes us gaze through the fridge at any hour to satisfy those cravings. This leads to decrease in our productivity, increase in the waist line and even worse impacts our immunity.

So this food recipe is about a snack which is consumed in all households irrespective of what the occasion is, but with a small twist which makes it healthy and importantly not making us guilty of consuming all those calories.

Ingredients required : ( For 4 Serves)

1. 750gm Potatoes 2. 2 bowls of wheat flour 3. Salt & Oil 4. 2-3 tsp Red Mirchi powder 5. 1-2 tsp Turmeric powder 6. 1-2 tsp Amchoor powder 7. 1-2 tsp Garam masala powder 8. Ginger ( 2 small pieces) 9. 4-5 Green mirchi. 10. 1-2 tsp Dry Coriander powder

Recipe :

1. Boil Potatoes and mash them in a bowl. 2. Add all the dry masala’s (red mirchi powder, turmeric powder, amchoor powder, garam masala, dry Coriander powder). 3. Mix this properly. 4. For making a ginger – green mirchi paste, cut 2 small pieces of ginger and green Mirchi. Put them in a mixer bowl and grind it. 5. Add the ginger paste to the potato mix. 6. Now, in a bowl take oil (1 small tsp), and mix the entire samosa mix properly. 7. Take wheat flour, add some oil and salt as per taste and make a dough. 8. Roll rotis and cut each roti in two parts. 9. Make a samosa shape from the roti and fill it with potato mix. Seal the samosa by applying water on the edges. 10. Follow the same steps for all the samosas. 11. Preheat the oven. 12. Apply some oil on either sides of samosa’s and put them on the oven tray. 13. Take out the samosa’s out of the oven when properly baked on both sides.

14. Serve hot samosa’s with tamarind and Pudina (Mint leaves) chutney.

So, the use of wheat flour instead of all purpose flour makes the samosas much more healthy and tasty. And secondly instead of frying them, baking the samosas in oven removes presence of excess oil, making our favorite homemade snack a star.
