What is Samosa Caucus?!

It is true, we Indians can't be kept away from samosas. Be it a festive occasion or wedding celebration or tea parties or the US elections 2020, samosas have a huge role to play everywhere.


Although the Samosa Caucus is unlike your ordinary stuffed potato samosas.

Samosa Caucus comprises of 5 Indian-American lawmakers, including 4 members of the House of Representatives and vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris.


The term Samosa Caucus was coined by Indian-origin Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi referring to an informal group of Indian-origin lawmakers.


With an outstanding performance this year, all the four Indian-American Democratic lawmakers — Dr. Ami Bera, Pramila Jayapal, Ro Khanna, and Raja Krishnamoorthi — have been re-elected to the US House of Representatives.


Tipirneni could be the second-ever Indian-American woman to be elected to the House of Representatives after Jayapal (elected in 2016), is considered an upcoming member of the popular Samosa Caucus.


US Senator Kamala Harris is the first woman of African and Indian to become a contender for the chair of Vice President of the United States. Her selection will make the Samosa Caucus stronger than ever. Her main focus is on "reimagining public safety in America".


Raja Krishnamoorthi swept away Preston Nelson of the Libertarian Party. He is expected to achieve at least 71 percent of the total votes counted.


17th Congressional District of California saw Ro Khanna getting elected for the third consecutive time. He got an easy win over another Indian-American origin, Ritesh Tandon, by a majority of more than 50 percent votes.


7th Congressional District of California witnessed a whitewash by Dr. Ami Bera - elected for the fifth consecutive time. She is senior most member of the informal group and has a lead of 25 percent votes over rival Buzz Patterson.


Pramila Jayapal, the first Indian-American woman to be elected to the US Congress was re-elected by a landslide in the 7th congressional district of Washington. She beat her Republican challenger Craig Keller by 69.6 percentage points.


Samosa are belived to be one of the most cherished indian dishes and so are these canditates - fresh and always a crowd pleaser.
