WHOLE WHEAT GARLIC BREAD


No forcing your heart to say no to Italian food. This quarantine definitely pushed the restaurant food away from us, but let's get it back on our dinner table.

Cooking whole wheat garlic bread which is both tasty and healthy to eat.


Ingredients :


1. Wheat flour - 2.5 cups

2. Jaggery powder - 3 tsp

3. Yeast - 3 tsp

4. Italian seasoning ( Oregano and chili flakes) - 2 tsp

5. Olive oil - 4 tsp

6. Garlic - 1 piece

7. Water - 2 cups

8. Salt as per taste



Recipe :


1. In a bowl, add warm water, Jaggery powder, and instant yeast. Keep it aside for 5 mins.

2. In another bowl, take flour, salt, oregano, and chili flakes and finely chopped garlic.

3. Mix yeast water to flour mixture and knead into a smooth dough.

4. Knead at least for 10 mins.

5. Mix in the oil when 3/4th done and mix again. Add water if required.

6. Do not over-knead as it is 100% whole wheat and will turn hard or dense.

7. Form a ball, grease it with oil and keep it covered at a warm place for 1.5-2 hours. This will help the dough rise.

8. Once done, knock out the air from the dough and roll into a ball.

9. Divide the ball into two halves. Roll each half, grease will oil, and keep it covered for 15 more mins.

10. Take the dough on a dusted surface and press it into a round shape.

11. Brush remaining olive oil and seasonings on one side.

12. Now fold the dough to give it half-moon shape and sprinkle seasoning on top.

13. Place on the dough on a greased tray and make cuts with a knife. Do not cut all the way.

14. Bake the dough in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 10-15 mins.

15. Once done, take the bread put and brush some olive oil on top. ( This will make the crust soft).

16. Serve along with dip or eat it as it is.
