Why Winter veggies can be your best friends?



Winter is here! But fresh vegetables are sadly on a vacation.


Chilly breeze, cozy sweaters, yum hot chocolate, soaring utility bills… Winter has plenty going on the plate, but fresh veggies are usually not on that list.


Most of the fresh veggies dont grow in cold climates and thus its very difficult to find locally grown veggies and fruits to nourish you in winter.

Specially after the outbreak of corona virus, when our body needs sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals to keep us healthy, its time to change course to a new list of veggies.


Hang out for a bit to learn about the unexpected, vitamin-rich, cold-weather foods you should stock up on just before winter.


1. Cabbage

This super-rich, budget-healthy vegetable is a brother of other favorites from chilly climes, like cauliflower, brussels sprouts, kale, and broccoli.

Cabbage is rich in vitamins and minerals, including cameos from vitamins C and K, as well as folate, fiber, antioxidants, and anti-carcinogenic compounds called glucosinolates.

2. Brussel Sprouts

These sprouts are finally getting there spotlight although it has a bad rap, despite its clear links to both farts and Christmas. No, we don’t understand it either.

Like other cruciferous veggies, brussels sprouts have high levels of cancer-fighting antioxidants that may protect DNA from harmful compounds in the body.

3. Potatoes

In the “Toy Story,” see how Andy always casts Mr. Potato Head as a bad guy when he’s playing. It’s not right. Mr. Potato is gullible.

4. Onions

5. Beetroot

6. Carrots

7. Turnips
